Purrfectly Delightful

Filed Under (Fashion) by Cajsa Lilliehook on 20-08-2008

Excuse my while I purr.

When I saw the ad for this jacket on the feed the other day, it was one of those “gotta have it” moments - though I will confess I blanched at the cost. Nonetheless, jackets are generally good investments and this one look lots of work and it shows.

The jacket is called Kitty and is from Jador. Made with a mad fringe of purples and reds, it seems to pay homage to Rodarte in subtle ways. Perhaps I make that connection because I have been lusting for that Rodarte suit for a month now and this is as close as I am likely to get. With it I am wearing a camisole from It’s All Good and a skirt from creamshop. The tights are from Petite Ange.

Here I switched to jeans from Pixel Dolls.  The jacket is easier to wear with jeans because it does not come with multiple attachments points for its prim pieces which are also, sadly, no copy. The belt and the fur trim both take points normally used by skirts, so I had some prim editing to do in order to wear a skirt. Luckily, pants don’t require that sort of accomodation.

I love the jacket - but let’s not lose sight of the amazing boots. It would have been so easy to go to far with these boots and end up in mukluk land, but restraint won the day and the shoe part stayed uncovered. Not only does this make for a nice contrast, it keeps my feet from looking like Sasquatch’s more fashionable cousin.

Such a wild outfit deserves equally wild makeup which I found with LionSkins Suzana #28. The earrings are from DeLa and the necklace from Stones From Heaven.

New Relases at Crimson Shadow

Filed Under (Fashion) by Lokum Shilova on 19-08-2008

I had the pleasure of meeting great designers during the Fashion Inspired by Black Swan. Kuranosuke Kamachi from DeLA was one of them.

I have asked her to create two gorgeous gowns that would fit to our Crimson Shadow Collection and the new boutique in Black Swan.

Couple of weeks later Kuranosuke gave me these beautifully detailed, extremely delicate two gowns in two colors each. Even before, I have opened the folders I was stunned by the names of the gowns.

On late summer

Filed Under (Fashion, Uncategorized) by Iustinian Tomsen on 19-08-2008

After a pretty long absence Shai Delacroix is back to SL and in our much loved fashion community. Her charm and her well being is back too. To mark her restart she created a damn sexy shirt matched with a various jeans tones. She is trying to release these new items today so you better watch her store and her group.

Shai is one of the most prestigious fashion creators of SL, her clothes has been the most beautiful, her fashion sense and her joy of life is well known. The most important points in her creations are the textures she is using. She is using mostly hand drawn materials, full of colors and surprising us with the simple but stylish style.

This look, is the perfect end of summer look. This looks spells all the way that easy going of some lazy summer days. The perfect image and feeling is provided by the old video of The Pogues - Summer in Siam.

The perfect outfit to lose yourself in a slow meditation of what deep relaxation and vacation means. The perfect outfit for a sexy fishing day. Thanks Shai for bringing your creations and the feeling behind them back to us.

Wastelands Silks, Two Takes

[God, I suck at titling posts.]

I love silks, apologetically.   I really have no occasion to wear them, but that doesn’t stop me from prancing around in them at every opportunity.  Really, what’s the point of a virtual paperdoll, if you can’t don a skimpy dancing costume and bellydance around in your skybox?  None, so there.

Of course, silks of the string-and-scrap-of-fabric variety don’t hold any appeal for me.  Like all my clothing, I look for something with an unusual twist, and the new Rust Shaman set from Dark Eden fits that description perfectly.

100% prim silks are always a marvel to me.  Most of the time they can be a complete pain in the ass to fit, but these worked surprisingly well out of the box.  (Helped along by the thoughtful inclusion of small and large sizes for the main pieces.)  I’m not a delicate kind of girl, and this isn’t a delicate set of silks.  Rough, torn fabric is held in place by rusty bits of wire, cogs, and other scraps of salvage.  The subtle pentagram theme also gives it a nice esoteric kinda feeling.

And just FYI:  I did, in fact, photoshop my nipples out of the sheer top.  Because.  Well, I don’t know you that well yet.  Buy me dinner first, then we’ll talk. :p

I usually end up piecing together elements of my favorite silks to include in a more traditional outfit, so I decided to show you an example of how I incorporated these into a street look.

Voila!  With just a slight bit of modding, the loincloth becomes a belt!

Nouveau Chez / New at: “Civvies” & “Kalrau”

Filed Under (Fashion) by Perry Proudhon on 19-08-2008

This white jacket from Kal Rau is part of his newly released collection of men’s clothing, and — as usual — is superbly textured, a sort of net fabric overlaying a subtly patterned underlayer. Comes on the jacket layer with moddable hood.

Quality: 4/5 - Style-Originality: 4/5 - Usability (different layers, modify perms, amount of outfits put together with a single pack, sizes for attachments…):2.5/5 - Price:3/5 - Value for money: 3.5/5

The sunglasses, also from Kalrau, are sleek and stylish, and easily scripted for clickable resizing. (I love resizing scripts, sorry!)

Posy Trudeau’s Baggy Jeans at Civvies are put together in a pack with different versions of belted jeans — brown, blue, gray, green, orange, pink, and red — 7 colors in two presized versions, plus two presized pair of sculpty cuffs, all moddable, in baggy and shabby baggy versions! I know you can’t see the belt here, but it made no sense to put it under the jacket. ;)

Rounding off this outfit, the new and recently featured Stomper Engineer boots from Style Starts Here, Danny hair from Truth (still available as a dollarbie, soon to be discontinued…go grab it!), the recently featured Square Link Black Titanium Link Bracelet from Dahlinks, the air vial pendant and a black rubber thumb ring from Mhaijik Guillaume.

Enjoy!

Conservative and teacherly

Filed Under (Fashion) by Achariya Rezak on 19-08-2008

While my avatar went a-wandering the fair streets of Axis Mundi, my SL self taught my first class of the semester this morning. I'm TAing in a one-year intensive curriculum that turns English majors into high school English teachers, and I think my school's program does a mighty fine job.

One of the amusing parts of the first day was "how to dress for the classroom." It was demonstrated by a chesty, leggy woman who dressed in very conservative slacks and a high-buttoned shirt. She told the class her dressing technique, which involved contorting in front of the mirror to make sure that no undergarments, skin or tattoos emerge when doing teacherly things like writing on the blackboard or squatting by a desk.

I thought the entire conversation was amusing considering my not-very-hidden Second Life avatar's fixation with clothing. IRL me wore a conservative knee-length black dress from Target today, so SL me had to do the complete opposite, just to express myself. Here I am in brand new boots from First Flower, the Valerian -- which now come in violet, blue, and red. I really need these boots for teaching -- although they might steal the show!

Bizarre SL bugs…

Filed Under (Fashion, Uncategorized) by Gogo on 19-08-2008

Last night someone tp’d me to a location on the Haute Couture sim demanding that I remove my REALLY LARGE SHOE from her shop. I don’t even have rezzing rights on this sim, so I went to see what she was on about. Apparently a shoe I have never seen before or own was enlarged and on display inside a former shoe shop? I don’t know.. weird…..!!!! I had full perms to it too, and could edit, so I just deleted it from her shop. Tried to contact a Linden, not much help, but I just wanted to document this here just in case anybody in SL has encountered this weird problem.

**EDIT** In other bizarre shoe news, a friend of mine showed me a thread on the SLU forum featuring some very nice sculpted shoes that someone was selling full perm on SLEx. Those looked really similar.. if not exactly the same as the ones sasawe Capalini tried to sell me several months ago.

So I went to a picks in the seller’s profile, Have Magic, and found these shoes rezzed in-world. They’re really nice looking!

Shoes by Have Magic by you.

And these are the ones that Sasawe Capalini showed me on June 9th, which look very similar to the strappy shoes above:

Definitely bizarre… I wonder if Have Magic = Sasawe Capalini or they’re both using the same source? Enlighten me!

Deco Blue

Filed Under (Fashion) by arabaroque on 19-08-2008

Posted 20th August 2008

So much about this outfit seems reminiscent of the Art Deco forms of the 1920’s and it all happened by accident as I tracked down and rummaged out pieces to mix and match with these sensational new shoes by Tesla Miles. Please check them out as the color choices are wonderful.

There’s a superstition that peacock feathers are unlucky, especially if brought into a house and mythology tells us that the peacock hates gold and will not go near it, so I may be breaking a few taboos here, but I think it is worth it!

The combination of the rich clay brown and chinese blue is one of my very favorites. I wouldn’t usually add in white as a third color but I think it works OK and the vibrant gold tones sprinkled throughout help to hold it all together.

The, uh, stuff that dreams are made of.

Filed Under (Fashion) by Cajsa Lilliehook on 19-08-2008

I have always liked that little “uh” when Bogart speaks the famous quote in The Maltese Falcon. Sometimes it’s the flaw that elevates the excellent to the extraordinary. After all, where would Lauren Hutton be without her gap? In the case of the new Tuli Elizabeth skin, I submit that the little mole under the left eye is what moves this skin into the extraordinary. In the past I have read the rave reviews of Tuli skins with bemusement as they never seemed to suit my face. This one, though, is a perfect fit.

I started with these Dahlia pants from Mischief - I love the waist and the unusual colors in them. To bring out the dijon-colored stripe, I added a similarly-colored turtleneck from Aoharu and Ankle Boots from Storm Schmooz. The suspenders come from a pants outfit from Decoy, but I wear them on their own frequently.

To accessorize, I added jewelry from Umemode and a wonderful hair/hat combo from Truth called Mr. Smith.

Quick Look: Festival

Filed Under (Fashion) by Efemera Bisiani on 19-08-2008

Quick Look - Festival

After the glamour of my last few posts, I felt the need for some fun and a liberal splash of colour, and took my inspiration from the summer festivals, which here in the UK are pretty likely to be mudbaths! When you can’t predict the weather, you need to dress for every eventuality, and that starts with sensible footwear for tramping round those muddy fields and providing some protection in the portaloo’s. Sensible doesn’t have to mean boring tho, and Ubu’s wonderfully bright wellies are just the thing. Taking them as my starting point, I remembered the pretty skirt I happened across whilst sim-hopping around following some of Beanie’s tips. The skirt comes attached to the spine which looked more than a little odd with my AO, but making a copy and attaching to the pelvis was only a couple of minutes work and for such a sweet pattern well worth it. There are four other colours to choose from if purple’s not your thing. Choosing the colour for the mini-hood from Fishy Strawberry was much more of a challenge. Loads of great shades and I could have gone wild, but in the end I decided to keep it simple and continue with the purple. I’m not going to waffle on about these hoodies as they’ve been well-covered on the feeds but they’re very cute and well made. The only adjustment I had to make was a slight tint to the hood itself.

This fun new Philotic Energy hair with it’s colour change streak was a no-brainer for this one, and playing with the streak gave me this orangey tone, which decided the top for me - another great basic from Celestial. I happened to ask Beanie if she knew where I might find a suitable bag, and she kindly gave me this one as a gift! I stopped by the store she got it from and they have the most eclectic range of products, I must visit again soon! The bag was perfect tho, bottled water (not spiked with vodka if security asks), a magazine to read between sets, or to sit on, and probably some loo roll as well! The nose ring came from an incredible free set at Yak & Yeti, as seen on Cajsa’s blog.

The skin is a little sneak peek, I’ll be talking about it a lot more very soon, but it’s a preview of the forthcoming Timeless Bare range from Ashia Designs. The beautiful turquoise eyeshadow and naturally pink cheeks, with the bare lips, were ideal - really how often do we fix our makeup at festivals?!

Hoodie - Fishy Strawberry - Minihood - Purple
Tank - Celestial Studio’s - Trixie Cami - Melon
Skirt - Mixx - Ethnic Skirt - Purple
Boots - Ubu - Rain Boots - RetroStars
Nose ring - Yak & Yeti - Bollywood Jewelry - Silver/Topaz
Bag - Luce - Basket (Natural) - Kotoricco

Hair - Philotic Energy - Nova
Skin - Ashia Designs - Timeless Bare 2 - Turquoise

Lashes - Cake - Flutter Lashes
Eyes - Tuli - Luminous Eyes - Steel

Little Bunny FooFoo

Filed Under (Fashion) by Jhuzen Ketsugo on 19-08-2008

Look Of The Day [August 16/08] 1

He calls me his bunny, I know, mushy stuff, but after 18 months with my partner Draco, I am happy to be his bunny or any other pet name he calls me. This week he was away visiting family, and I missed being really connected to him, when I searched for something to wear while waiting for him to log on for a goodnight cuddle, I knew it had to be this adorable BP* Blue Cut-Off Hoodie with bunny ears. It comes with several hood versions, but this one with the brown hair and the bunny ears was my favorite, I did mod linked parts a bit to slightly darken the hair colour, making it a little more personalized. What is so great about this Hoodie, is the little touches that BettiePage Voyager has a talent for those little details that make all the difference. The frayed edges on the hood and top, small flexi alphas that look like tiny threads moving in the wind are really well done, as are all the prim parts. BP* has some amazing pieces, but the prices are even better.

I paired the top with these bright Red Capri Pants from *DP*yumyum, a sweet little pant with adorable dotted back pockets. I like the shading on them and the prim cuffs fit perfectly with no fiddling, the tiny bow detail really makes them unique. This pair came with a CSR Stamp Card if I recall correctly, and there are many great colours to choose from. I pulled in a favorite pair of casual and cute shoes from EnvYou, the Strapped Chucks I wear so often, and I have them in all the colours available, they are just a cute and casual heeled sneaker, and chucks are so the thing to be wearing these days. The bag is also from BP*, the Leather Skull Bunny Bag is a really nice one to have for a look like this, the colour is lovely and the kitsch factor is right up my alley. I pulled on one of the Arm Bands from Devilish Cupcakes, here the Red Rainbow version, which came in a fatpack of dozens of colour and logo options. One of Marjorie Market's bits of whimsy is this cute Cherry Ring Pop under her Bees Knees Line, can't ever have enough chunky rings.

Look Of The Day [August 16/08] 2

Skin is the Quelita Soon Milk Skin in Dark 003, I really love the brightness of the face, it has a really youthful look to it. You ain’t got no kind of feeling inside
I got something that will sure ’nuff set your stuff on fire
You refuse to put anything before your pride
I got something that will knock all your pride aside

Tell me something good (tell me, tell me, tell me)
Tell me that you love me
Tell me something good (tell me, tell me, tell me)
Tell me that you like it, yeah

I started with the bodice of Baiastice Tantrum dress. It positively bellows “Dance, Dance, Dance!” Gold leather pants, a wide belt, black ankle boots and flyaway hair continye the theme.

The addition of Mae Hong Son Neck Rings from Chapeau Tres Mignon and the earrings from Moon (at House of Shaea) complete the disco look. Chaka would be proud.

Got no time is what you’re known to say
I’ll make you wish there were 48 hours to each day
Problem is you ain’t been loved like you should
What I got to give will sure ’nuff do you good

Tell me something good (tell me, tell me, tell me)
Tell me that you love me
Tell me something good (tell me, tell me, tell me)
Tell me that you like it, yeah

Antonia Marat of artilleri is not just a great designer, she also an awesome builder.  Her sim is full of amazing things she’s created from the awesome trailer  (Gary says if I have his prim babies, I can have it, we checked there is enough room in the bedroom for our bed, a couple of cribs and maybe some bunkbeds if we wanna adopt too!) to the best Flamingo in Second Life.   She recently created the Magda Lounger, a great addition to your patio.  Along with this she also released some fun late season swim suits, and other summer wear just in time for those dog days of August, and to get ready for your last summer bash…Labor Day.   With this release, you’ll be wishing for an Indian Summer to come along.

Gary is wearing a board suit of his own texturing to compliment Whimsy’s swim wear… artilleri’s Leelee bikini in leopard…you have to agree Antonia is the queen of doing leopard and zebra prints.  The Magda Lounger comes with a wearable reflector ensuring an all over glow, and the cushions are color changeable.

Also worn:

Shoes:  Armidi-Gisaci- Dahlia Bow Platforms in Bole, Hair: Analog Dog-Milli with Milli Bang in Bleached,  Sunglasses: Dernier Cri-Tortuoise Shell

BettiePage snuck into my RL closet

Filed Under (Fashion) by Elizabeth Hallstrom on 19-08-2008

Ok, so I think BettiePage has been sneaking into my apartment in Austin and has been using some of my own RL pieces as her inspiration for her SL line. I mean, I am an up and coming SL fashionista so I need to make sure I come across the same in my RL, hahaha.

So I was taking a nice little stroll through Starlust last Sunday and I came across the fabo Frilly shirt/dress by BettiePage.  Upon its discovery, the Linden “cha ching” could be heard oh so clearly.  Soon after I TP’d on over to her main store and snatched up this denim skirt as recommended by my lovely friend Poo Rang.  Ms. Rang is a BettiePage stalker extradonaire and I knew I could rely on her to give me the best recs when comes to the BettiPage line.

Rounding out the ensemble is hair from Kurotsubaki and this fabulous little bag from Vogart - remember I do have quite the Japanese designer fetish in SL!  And since I was looking and feeling so bohemian with my new duds, I felt at though the new Floyd sim would really help my photoshoot be a standout! So thats all for now divas, Ciao and Hugs!
